Flat-Fee Houston Probate Lawyer
Most Houston families do not need an open-ended hourly bill to probate an estate. For uncontested cases we work on a flat fee, so you know the full cost before we start. No hidden charges, no surprise invoices.
Before you shop on price
A cheaper quote is easy to find. Here is what it costs.
Plenty of personal injury and family lawyers will take a probate case for less. Probate simply is not what they do. An executor is personally liable, and a single missed deadline or filing error can cost the estate far more than you ever saved on the fee.
Everything below is a flat fee for work that is all we do, across Harris County's five probate courts. You are paying for focus and experience, not a general lawyer learning on your case.
| Probate matter | Flat fee | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Muniment of Title Transfers a home or assets when there is a valid will and no unpaid debts. | $4,900+ | 6 to 8 weeks |
| Independent Administration The most common full probate when there is a will naming an executor. | $13,800+ | 6 to 12 months |
| Intestate Succession When there is no will. Handled through an independent administration. | $13,800+ | 6 to 12 months |
| Affidavit of Heirship | Quoted after a free consultation | 2 to 4 weeks |
| Small Estate Affidavit | Quoted after a free consultation | 30 to 60 days |
The plus sign means a floor, not a cap. Each flat fee is confirmed for your exact situation before any work begins. Contested matters, such as will contests and estate litigation, are billed hourly at $595 per hour for attorney time and $295 for paralegal time, because the length of a dispute cannot be predicted up front.
Why a flat fee beats an hourly bill for probate
An hourly meter charges you for every phone call, every question, and every hour a slower lawyer takes to do the same work. It also means you never really know the final number until the invoice arrives. A flat fee removes that uncertainty and lines up our interest with yours: handle the case correctly and efficiently, for a price you agreed to in advance.
Because probate is nearly all we do, and because we file in Harris County's five probate courts every week, we can quote most uncontested cases with confidence. You get an experienced probate lawyer, a predictable cost, and a process handled almost entirely online, remotely across the Houston area.
